Online Pharmacy Netmeds Acquires Competing Startup Pluss
Chennai-based online pharmacy, Netmeds, has acquired Delhi-based hyper local startup in the same space, Pluss. The amount of the deal hasn’t been disclosed. The acquisition will bring Netmeds’ head count to a total of about 450.
Pluss had raised $1 million in pre-Series A investment from IDG Ventures India, M&S Partners and Powerhouse Ventures in November 2015. It was founded by Atit Jain, Madhulika Pandey and Tarun Lawadia in the same year. Netmeds too was founded in 2015, by Pradeep Dadha and his family. It had raised $50 million in October 2015. Quikr Buys Grabhouse in All Stock Deal
Online classifieds portal Quikr, has made yet another acquisition. This time it has acquired home rental startup Grabhouse in an all-stock deal. Grabhouse was founded by Prateek Shukla and Pankhuri Shrivastava in March 2013, and has raised $12.5 million till date.
This is Quikr’s 5th acquisition this year after acquiring – Stayglad, Zapluk, Stepni and Hiree. Additionally, it had acquired realty portal Commonfloor in December 2015 which was also merged with Quikr’s realty arm, QuikrHomes. Read More
Travel eCommerce Firm Ctrip Acquires UK-based Skyscanner for $1.7B
China-based online travel firm Ctrip has acquired UK-based flight search firm, Skyscanner, for $1.74 billion in a largely cash deal. The 100% stock buyout deal would be closed by the end of 2016. Post the acquisition, Skyscanner will continue to operate independently. Read More

Security software maker Symantec, has announced that it is acquiring identity theft protection firm LifeLock for $2.3 billion. In a bid to enhance its facial recognition technology, Facebook has acquired expressions detecting app FacioMetrics. The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed. The mobile startup was founded in 2015, and offers Snapchat like triggers based on facial expressions. Read More
