Dear Government: It's time to turn the economy over to the entrepreneurs.
Dear Mr. President too.
No offense, but you don’t have a clue. So as you negotiate a way to get our economy back on track let me humbly suggest that the best way you can do this is to get the hell out of the way. After all, it’s you who created this mess. And now we’re supposed to trust you to get us back on track. Please.

You confiscate money from the entrepreneurs to create your social programs. In the process you hinder the ability of job creators to create jobs, while at the same time wonder why there aren’t more jobs being created. Get this through your thick skull: The government cannot create jobs. Not one. The best way for you to enable job creation is to make government smaller. And there’s the problem, isn’t it?
You’re not in Washington to make the government smaller, are you?
We’re approaching a precarious Waterloo in America. On one side, we have an entire wave of Boomer Entrepreneurs ready to get this this economy back on track by starting millions of new small businesses. On the other side we have the government trying to maintain their disastrous dictatorial control of the economy by suppressing entrepreneurship. They do this with gargantuan spending programs financed with revenue (read: taxes) confiscated from the job creators of this nation.
I’m not talking about the Chryslers and GM’s who financed their resurrection with your tax dollars. The big corporations don’t create jobs, small businesses do. Small businesses are responsible for 100% of net job growth in the past 35 years. But GM & Chrysler can make trips to Washington to kiss ass and make large campaign contributions. Small business owners cannot.
Any budget solution that gives more money to the government is a bad solution. Period. A solution that puts more money back in the hands of the entrepreneurs who create jobs is a good solution. America’s entrepreneurs are the only people who can put this nation’s economy back on track. But are they present at the budget “negotiations?” Not hardly.
Why the Rant?
Because I ‘m tired of standing by and watching this idiocy…or maybe it’s the summer heat wave. Year after year entrepreneurs sit by and wait for the orders to come down from people who are unqualified to handle the economy. The past two summers, I have tried reason:
August 5, 2010: Our Future Depends on a Culture of Entrepreneurship
July 2, 2009: Call to Action for Entrepreneurs, RE: Government Growth
As entrepreneurs, we have a responsibility, whether the politicians acknowledge it or not. Our responsibility does not end at the front door of our business. It does not end after we cast our votes on election day. The small business owners of America must be constantly diligent. Contact your Congressman directly. I have. Let your representative know that if they want to create jobs, you’re the one who can do it.
