Why Content Marketers Love Pinterest

If you’re already using Pinterest to drive more traffic and leads to your business website, you’re probably already a little in love with it. I know I am! There are so many reasons, but here are a few I’m extra grateful for today.
Pinterest Can Be Lead Generation Magic
The initial benefit we saw was an increase in website traffic – lots of it. Last month, in fact, one of our customers got nearly as much traffic from Pinterest alone as from all other organic sources, including Google. Take a moment to look at your analytics and imagine doubling your organic traffic just by using Pinterest. It can happen!
But, at first we struggled with lead generation. Would it be enough to justify the one to two hours a week we dedicate to Pinterest?
Well, I’m happy to report that we’re starting to see the amazing lead generation potential of Pinterest on the accounts we manage as well. Last month, one of our client’s Pinterest leads accounted for 42% of all leads!
It’s true, you have to find the right material for Pinterest, and you have to package it with Pinterest in mind. It’s becoming easier and easier to do that. We include a pinnable image in every blog post we write. When we release a content offer (white paper, ebook, check list, etc.) we can create multiple images for lots of pins!
Just today, Canva released layouts specifically for Pinterest. With just the right size and creative eye-catching designs ready for your customization, it does not get any easier!
Get More Mileage From Your Content Offers
When we have an offer that is especially suited to Pinterest, we create many images for pinning. For example, if we have a collection of recipes, we create at least one gorgeous image just for Pinterest for every single recipe. Sometimes, if it’s working really well, we’ll create several for each recipe (or we might focus on just the most popular).
This one little technique will increase your repins, follower count and website traffic (and leads) almost instantly.
Get Blog Post Ideas From Pinterest
Not sure what to write about? Search Pinterest for topics related to your business and see what has been repinned over and over. The appeal might be the design, it might be the topic, the headline or it might be all of the above! Figure out why it’s so popular and then decide how to adapt it for your own use. Maybe you’ll end up with a blog post, maybe an idea for a brand new ebook, or maybe you’ll just get an idea of what sorts of images are working well in your industry.
When you find pins that inspire you, pin them to a secret board called “Content Inspiration” for later when you need a little creative spark – or for sharing with your content team.
