Ask Jeeves at a Glance

The Ask Jeeves home page (www.ask.com) is as simple in its appearance as the home page of Google and AllTheWeb. As you can see in Figure 8-1, the page offers up a big search box (prefaced by a very polite message from Jeeves, the butler: "Greetings. Please enter your search or question." Enter your query into the search box, click the Ask button, and Ask Jeeves will deliver the expected page of search results.

#192: Ask Jeeves a Question-in Plain English

Unlike the other major search engines, Ask Jeeves responds to both key word queries and English-language questions. This means that you can phrase your search in relatively plain English, just as if you were asking a question to another human being.

So if you want to know the name of George Washington's mother, you can enter the typical key word query george washington mother or the more natural what is the name of george washington's mother? The results should be similar.
