Online Money Making Without Investment
You can make money online without a lot of cash investment, but it will take time investment. There are many ways you can make money online but here is a simple list to get you started. To start off with you will need your own website and blog. The blog has to be a niche site and not a personal blog about your day-to-day life like your bathroom rehab/renovation project, unless of course you are an expert at that.
What is a Niche Site?
I can explain this better with an example.
Example: You may be passionate about weight loss and a good niche site is targeting how to lose belly fat. Similarly you may be passionate about dieting and a good niche site would be paleo diet. (Paleo diet by the way is composed of lean meat, nuts and berries for those of you who are interested – I am looking at my wife here as she is passionate about food! – not dieting).
Amazon or eBay Products
You can be an Amazon or eBay affiliate and you can promote any product. You get a commission if someone clicks through your website for not only the recommended product but also any other product they buy. The best approach is to be open and honest to your website visitors. I personally only recommend products that I have used and believe in. The best part is there are no inventories or supplies for you to store. You don’t have to worry about shipping either; it will be all taken care of.
Building an Email List of Subscribers
When visitors come to your website you can ask them to opt-in to your mailing list. You collect email addresses, stay in touch and build a relationship with the readers. This email list allows you to give the visitors useful information in your specific niche. You can send them automated emails or send everyone on your list an instant email with products and/or promotions. You can use an autoresponder like aWeber to automate the whole process. There are also other autoresponders available online. Most bloggers when starting out don’t focus on this. Successful bloggers have also admitted that they were slow to start their list and this was their only regret. If you like what you see on this site please subscribe to my email list at the bottom of the page. I promise not to spam you or send pure marketing emails. I will send new blog post updates, tips and tricks.
Affiliate Programs
You can find heaps of affiliate programs online for almost any niche. Go to Google and search for your keyword + affiliate program. For example if you are in the weight loss niche then you would search for ‘weight loss affiliate program’. It is important to review the products before promoting them. You want to promote products that work or provides information. Nobody likes to waste money and you will lose customers or viewers if this is not done correctly. Do not recommend products purely for commissions, always keep the customer satisfaction in mind.
Adsense Advertisements on your Website
When your website has reasonable traffic you can display advertisements. When visitors to your website click on the advertisements, you earn per click. This could be Google ads or similar programs. The payout to you depends on competition and demand, it varies highly from $0.1 up to $20 per click. Please note you would need your own domain name like hostgator.com for Google ads and not a sub domain like mysite.hostgator.com.
Specific Products or Company Advertisements in your Niche
If we take the weight loss niche then a company which has weight loss products may want to advertise on your website. You will need to have good traffic on your site for this to happen. You can charge different rates for various spots in your website similar to a newspaper where they charge a premium for the front and back cover page.
Create and Promote your Own Product
It is recommended that beginners start out with affiliate marketing first before creating their own product. The product could be a physical or an informational product like an eBook. You don’t have to pay commissions for your own product and the profits could be much higher than promoting other people’s products. You can also pay commission to affiliates who sell your product and expand your customer base.
Sell your Website
Some people specialize in this and they generally tend to have experience in building niche sites. They do the research to find a profitable niche and get traffic to the website by providing good quality content. They utilize SEO (Search Engine Optimization) techniques to get better visibility with various search engines – Google being the prime target with majority of market share. Then they promote products and place advertisements strategically placed to get viewer clicks. They put the website for sale in an auction site like ‘Flippa’ once they have the desired web traffic.
YouTube Videos
You can create videos and upload them to YouTube. If you are only going to use written content, you are not going to get ahead fast. Did you know you can monetize your videos by allowing ads to run when the video starts?
A word of caution: The above ways of making money online may seem very simple but be aware there is hard work and dedication required to succeed. After all who goes beyond the first page in Google for any search result, hardly any. There is research, search engine optimization strategies including back linking and so on to name a few (More on these topics later). This is not a get rich quick scheme but it doesn’t mean you can’t achieve success. Two great success stories are: Pat Flynn who is an online Entrepreneur who makes about $1 million a year (he started about 5 years ago) and Anik Singal who makes about $10 million a year (he started about 10 years ago). If you start small and build slowly you can escape the rat race too!
