Zoom In
There are two ways to zoom into a point on the map:
♦ You can click the Zoom In option below the map, and then click your mouse on a point anywhere on the map. The map will zoom in to the point you clicked.
♦ The second method is perhaps the better one: along the right side of the map are Zoom In and Zoom Out controls. You can click the + or -buttons to zoom in or out, or click any button in between to zoom to a particular level. Using these controls, you can not only zoom in but also zoom back out—which you can't do with the point-and-click insider If you want to display a larger full-screen map, click the Big Map button at insight the top right of the map.
Sometimes you want to see the area just outside a given map—but don't necessarily want to zoom out the entire map. Instead you want to re-center the map. Again, there are two ways to do this.
You can re-center via the point-and-clicking method by selecting the Re-Center option below the map. With this option selected, when you click a point on the map, the map will be redrawn, with your click point as the new center point.
Another option is to use the North, East, South, and West controls along the sides of the map. Click the North control to pan the map north; use the East control to pan the map east; and so on.
MapQuest offers several different ways to customize your maps. You access the Customize Map page, shown in Figure 20-4, by clicking the Customize Map link underneath any map you display.
There are several options on the Customize Map page. These include the following:
♦ Change the map's title
♦ Select a different map size
♦ Select a different map style (color scheme)
♦ Change the label and icon for the location that you mapped
You can also add other locations to the map you created. Go back to the map page and click the Add a Location link underneath the map. Enter another address or location (and select a new icon), and it will then be indicated on the map you created alongside your original location.
