Build Even Bigger Keyword Lists
Wordtracker is an online keyword generator that builds lists of similar search terms from keywords entered by Internet users.
The database is updated on a continuous basis for new search expressions and it contains more than 350 million search queries. As such, Wordtracker can be a valuable tool to gain insight into the public's most commonly used search phrases.
Although Wordtracker is a paid subscription service, they do offer a free trial. Also free of charge is their weekly Keyword Report, which includes the top 500 frequently searched words on the Internet. The Keyword Reports are a great way to keep an eye on keyword search trends that indicate new and emerging topics of public interest.
Unlike Overture, which lumps pluralized, hyphenated, and misspelled words together to generate one result for the number of searches in a given month; Wordtracker shows numbers for all the variables.
For example, although thousands of people will morph the term 'wine making', into 'wine-making', 'winemaking' or even 'wine making', Overture will return results only for 'wine making'. Wordtracker on the other hand, will show you search counts for each variation.
This is especially beneficial when submitting terms and listings to certain pay per click search engines that require advertisers to list the exact term that a surfer enters in the search box to get listed in its search results.
Related Keywords - Wordtracker is also helpful in generating 'related keywords'. Here are some of the keywords that were returned when I typed 'personals' into the Wordtracker interface:

The list of related keywords gave me all sorts of new keywords, some of which I might not have considered, like 'companionship', 'widow' and 'sweetheart'.
By using the 'Related Keywords' tool at Wordtracker, I built a list of over 4000 keywords related to online dating services in a little under five minutes, after I weeded out irrelevant terms like 'single malt scotch', 'carbon dating', and 'personal injury lawyers'.
You may try out Wordtracker for free. Although the free trial doesn't permit you to use all of its robust features, you will be able to build keyword lists. If you want to expand your research using Wordtracker, day or week-long subscriptions are available. Simply brainstorm your ideas, then set aside a day in which to do all your Wordtracker research.
