The Backlinking Strategy that Pacts a Punch - Infographic
I was looking for my next Infographic idea and was thinking we have covered some blogging tips, website performance, content and SEO. What is missing Backlinking. Now I am not an expert in this field. Coincidentally I remembered my favorite post of all time The Backlinking Strategy that Works 2014 and Beyond by Brian Dean . Now this is an epic post that is 6,000 + words in length that's about the size of a book with 100 + pages. I have read this post at least a dozen times and at times, I skim through and look at specific parts. What if there was a neat way to summarize this epic post without distorting the message That's how the idea of creating an Infographic of this post was born. I created this Infographic for myself as much as for others. Do buckle up and enjoy the thrill ride. I can tell you first hand the strategies in this Infographic work. What Works in Building Backlinks We have covered what needs to be done to get quality backlinks, now let's look at how to do it.
The Top Strategies For Building Quality Links Infographic
Backlinks are a small, but extremely important aspect of any modern SEO business strategy. While buying links worked in the past, today's rules prohibit such behaviors. Instead, we have to build our backlinks through a number of different strategies. Today we'll look at what defines a high-quality backlink, and examine some of the most effective ways to building quality links and a strong and varied profile for your website. Having tons of backlinks isn't enough to elevate your rankings. Instead, you need links from the right sources. To help you find those, here are three signs you're on the right track I like to think of backlinks like recommendations. If they come from a great source, then you should be proud to show it. If a low-quality site links to you, that's not something you want on your profile. Beyond simple quality, your backlinks should also come from trusted sources that are well-known either broadly or in their niche.
How to Tell if You Are Neglecting Link Building
Link building is about getting hyperlinks from other websites to your own. It gives your visitors a way to navigate between pages on the Internet. After that, search engines use links to crawl the web. In fact, they crawl the links between individual pages on your website. In addition, they crawl the links between entire websites. There are many techniques for link building, which can vary in complexity. Some digital marketers think link building is the most difficult part of the job. The landscape of SEO and link building is always changing. Yet, today, the importance of link building has never been higher. In order to compete and thrive online, you need to deploy high-quality campaigns. Here's how to tell if you have been neglecting link building. Basically, when someone links to another website, they are saying it is a good resource. Now, links are used as part of an overall ranking algorithm to determine page rankings. What doesn't work is manipulating search results.
Reciprocal Links
A reciprocal link, as the name implies, is where two websites link to each other. A few years back, reciprocal links use to be a good way to gain inbound links to your website. I use to spend hours e-mailing other webmasters asking them if they wanted to swap links . In essence, you were voting for each other's websites, hoping that both websites would receive a boost in the search rankings. In recent years the value of reciprocal links has declined steadily. There is still some debate over whether or not reciprocal links can improve your position in the search results. Many SEO's now believe that instead of reciprocal links counting as a vote for each other, you are essentially canceling out each others vote. I don't spend much time pursuing reciprocal links and will delete many of the requests that I receive. I will occasionally grant a reciprocal link request, but only if the website has good content and is topically related to my website.
Generating Buzz for Your Blog
The power of blogs is buzz, or conversations and Web links that bounce from blog to blog and gather mass and impact. Companies that use blogs as buzz-building tools are finding substantial readerships of people who avidly want to know what the blogger has to say and respond with comments to every new posting. The best part is that they often spread that message to others within their sphere of influence through blogs, instant messages, or e-mail.
Mining Additional Revenue with Affiliate Programs
Thousands of iPhone apps and their related web sites are chock full of links back to the iTunes Store and the App Store. What I find odd is that a large percentage of those links are not affiliate links. I'm constantly surprised by just how many iPhone developers still do not take advantage of this free revenue generating opportunity. Earning a 5 percent commission on digital items that may only be priced at 99 cents does not sound like a windfall of money, but just like low-priced app sales, this business model is all about volume.
An Introduction to Social Media Optimization
StumbleUpon is a peer and social networking technology that includes a toolbar that you install in your Web browser. The StumbleUpon toolbar allows you to discover and rate Web pages, videos, photos, and news articles. Getting your Web pages, videos, photos, and news articles submitted to StumbleUpon is an effective way to generate buzz and traffic, and to build backlinks to your Web site.
Creating an Electronic Storefront
For example, Toyota operates a marketing Web site fit www.toyota.com . Once a potential customer elieks in, the car maker wastes no time trying to turn the enquiry into a sale. The site offers plenty of entertainment and useful information, from cross-country trip guides and tips for driving with kids, to golf and outdoor events. But the site is also loaded with more serious selling features, such as detailed descriptions of current Toyota models and information on dealer locations and services, complete with maps and dealer Web links, Visitors who want to go further can fill out an online order form (supplying name, address, phone number and e-mail address) for brochures and a free interactive CD-ROM that shows off the features of Toyota models. The chances are good that before the CD-ROM arrives, a local dealer will call to invite the prospect in for a test drive.32
An Introduction to Monetizing Traffic
Sell Links with Text-Link-Ads.com Perhaps more heated than the debate on paid blogging is the debate on the ethics of selling text links. The debate is based upon the belief that advertisers buy links in an effort to manipulate Google's search-engine algorithm that analyzes backlinks to rank Web sites. Despite countless hours of debate, many Web site owners find that selling links is an efficient way to monetize their Web site traffic. Sites like Text-Link-Ads serve as a connection between link buyers or publishers and link sellers or advertisers. Once you become a publisher on Text-Link-Ads, advertisers can purchase a text link on your site you receive 50 percent of the amount paid by the advertiser on a monthly basis. Text-Link-Ads payouts range from 2.50 to as much as several hundred dollars per link, per month. The more popular your Web site is, the more money you can charge for a text link. The topic of paid blogging is a hot debate in today's Webmaster community.
Link Trading FFAs Banner Exchanges
Page ranking in search engines is influenced by the link popularity of your site. The numbers of sites that link to yours, as well as the popularity of those sites determine link popularity. This is a relatively important factor as far as search engine placement is concerned. Link popularity is improved when sites with a high page rank link to your site. A link from a site with a topic related to yours is more valuable than a link from an unrelated site. Your link popularity can actually be diminished if you trade links with sites that don't complement yours, or that have low page ranks or poor traffic numbers. You will still see many sites on which the bottom half of the page is a blinking mass (mess) of reciprocal links graphics to links directories. Tacky You register your site as one that is willing to trade links with other relevant sites.
Link Share reports over 10 million partnerships in the network and claims to be the most successful pay for performance
I find their user interface quite intuitive and easy to use. I especially like the 'Create Links' link that takes you immediately to a list of all your current merchant partners in the Linkshare network. This is a step up from Commission Junction's interface where it takes a couple of more clicks to get to the same place.
Evaluate Potential Linking Partners
You can determine what is considered a quality link by analyzing a number of factors. One of the most important factors to consider is the age of the domain you are trying to acquire a link from. Google tends to treat older domains that have been around for several years with more respect than domains registered recently. If you can acquire a link to your page from a domain that was registered in 1995, it is likely to have a greater effect on your organic rankings than a link from a domain that was registered last month. You should also try to acquire as many links as possible from domains with .edu and .gov top-level domain extensions. The search engines know that these educational and governmental establishments are much less likely to link to low-quality pages than a typical .com Make sure that pages you are prospecting for links have unique and relevant content to your page's subject matter.
Using the SEO for Firefox PlugIn
One of the most popular SEO browser extensions is SEO for Firefox, which was created by SEO expert Aaron Wall. SEO for Firefox gathers multiple pieces of marketing data about a Web site and displays that data within your browser alongside the search results from the Google or Yahoo search engine. Because the data is provided to you alongside the actual search results, the SEO for Firefox extension allows you to check the most important statistics of a Web site before you even visit the domain. Some of the statistics made available by SEO for Firefox for quick view include Google PageRank, Yahoo page and domain links, and number of backlinks. These stats are all valuable pieces of information that, when used together, can give you a clear picture of the relative strength of a Web site. SEO for Firefox provides a very useful gauge for the number of backlinks a Web page and Web site have, as reported by Yahoo and MSN.
Using the Google Keyword Suggestion Tool
The Google AdWords Keyword Suggestion Tool, located at https adwords.google.com select KeywordToolExternal, is a free tool offered by Google that generates keywords based on a user entering descriptive words or phrases or a Web site URL. Because Google provides this tool, it has the unique advantage of being able to display a measure of advertiser competition. Advertiser competition is in reference to the amount of advertisers bidding on each term within the Google AdWords program. This is helpful in finding new keywords for use in your own PPC account, because the search volume appears right next to the advertiser competition. Keywords that have a fairly high search volume with a low competition rating can make perfect additions to your own keyword lists. The Google Keyword Suggestion Tool also shows seasonal trends in keyword searches. This is useful for planning your SEO campaigns. You should always target keywords with a mix of seasonal and constant search volume.
Social Media Release Template, version 1.5
To tighten things up another challenge for Version 1.0 was seeing some companies overdo it in terms of relevant links Thus, in part in homage to the scalpel-sharp editing enforced by services like Twitter, I'm suggesting the optional inclusion of 3 Links That Matter to give readers more info, context, etc. If you only get 3 links, you'll be forced to make em good links, eh
The Future of the Social Media Release is in Your Hands
At the end of the day, the SMR was never intended to replace the traditional press release nor is it supposed to relieve you of good ol' media and blogger relations. In fact, experience thus far shows that SMRs are much stronger when paired with both a traditional counterpart and strategic outreach. An SMR written in either bulleted or narrative format, partnered with a static release each containing reciprocal links can not only distribute meaningful news, but also offer building blocks (shareable content) facilitate and encourage conversations and sharing (via social media tags) and ensure a presence in both blog and traditional Web search engines (via SEO and SMO).Multiple releases can specifically appeal to different groups using the channels the reach them (customers, bloggers, journalists, etc.). It will, for the first time, combine mainstream PR while creating new arms and legs to reach important groups that comprise The Long Tail.
Wikipedia For Marketers: The Last Word
We spam external links because we didn't know about Wikipedia's rules on official links. We create articles on companies that haven't earned them because we didn't read Wikipedia's criteria for notability of companies. We edit anonymously, even though Wikipedia urges us to disclose our identity.
Why Every Blogger Should Use Guest Blogging - Infographic
Getting backlinks from authority sites that are relevant to your niche is a big enough reason on its own to guest post, but when you combine that with the other benefits in this list it is just the icing on the cake. Competing sites in your niche will be utilising guest posting opportunities to build backlinks, traffic and brand recognition. By taking a sneak peek at your competitor's links you can find guest posting opportunities. You can use a tool like Open Site Explorer by Moz to do this.
The Perfect On Page SEO Checklist [Infographic]
Outgoing links tell search engines like Google what your page is about. The quality of your external links is a signal to Google of the quality of your page. A new website or blog will take time to build up its domain authority (DA) and backlinks. One good habit to get into early is to always focus on, SEO elements on the page as this does not depend on domain authority, domain age or backlinks. On page SEO elements are crucial for search engine traffic and rankings.
Social Media Release: Evolution
Why PitchEngine Why didn't other platforms emerge and why can't I just make an SMR on my blog I think this was Todd's orignal intention sort of an open source template that people could go and build. But what got overlooked was search. We call it Co-op SEO and it's the reason PitchEngine search authority grew so big, so fast. You can't get authoritative back links to your website or your blog easily and you need them to drive your Page Rank within Google. But through PitchEngine, brands were able to get indexed well and almost immediately, which also provided valuable juice to their own domains.

15 SEO Mistakes That Can Cost You Search Engine Rankings - Infographic
Jon Morrow makes a valuable point about link directories. He says link directories are like neighbourhoods there are good ones and bad ones. Google doesn't like bad neighbourhoods a collection of links or sites that are low quality, maybe involved in spam(y) activities or link building. If a directory accepts all link submissions then you need to think twice if it is going to add value to you. If there is a human who reviews the links and only accepts good quality links then it may be worth your consideration. If authority sites in your niche are listed in a directory that might be a good sign. Focus on guest blogging to get quality links from authority sites and stay away from article marketing. Creating awesome content that is link worthy can produce editorial links which are the best form of links to build authority and rankings. Anchor text tells Google what the content is about.

It goes without saying that your title and URL should match and by default it does in WordPress. But if you change the title after sometime then make sure you change the URL as well. How to Make an Infographic and Avoid Common Mistakes
The next stage is to check if someone has already made a killer infographic on your topic. Check in Google, Google Images, Pinterest and Visual.ly. If industry giants like Neil Patel or Brian Dean have done an infographic on the topic you have short listed then move to the next one on your list. If lesser known names have done an infographic and it has NOT done well in terms or social shares and backlinks (use BuzzSumo to check) then you might be able to reuse the infographic with due credit to get a quick bang for buck. The key is to promote the infographic and amplify its visibility. You can do some paid promotion using the cost you saved by not creating the infographic. The heading is very important for marketing. It is also the first thing your readers read. Spend some time and do research on the heading. I don't look at SEO for my Infographic heading as I want something catchy.
23 Point Guest Blogging Checklist like No Other [Infographic]
One of my criteria for guest blogging is a do-follow' backlink and yours might be different. I also focus on the site quality and check their Domain Authority. I look for DA above 30 as a minimum and at times look for sites with DA 40 and over. I used to look at Google Page Rank which is now defunct. Links from a mix of various sites with varying Domain Authority Links only from relatively high Domain Authority sites When it comes to link building in general you would want to build keyword rich backlinks. But when it comes to guest posting it is better to use branded anchor text such as YourEscapeFrom9to5.com Do not use here' and this' as your anchor text since this is hard to interpret for both users and search engine bots.

Google is putting more emphasis on the page load time factor and may even rank your competitor higher in search results just because your competitor loads a page a fraction of a second quicker than you do. There are of course many other factors like backlinks, domain authority and so on that influence this but more and more brands online are investing heavily on their website speed. Especially when they know, slow websites spell slow death they kill conversions and increase bounce rates, not to mention the bad first impression.

Blog Monetization Strategies - Infographic
You have to understand money is the end result. Start with great content of course but you will go nowhere if you are simply relying on organic or search engine traffic. You have to build backlinks to your site. The foundation to backlinks is WOW content. You also need to build relationships with fellow bloggers in your niche for your backlinks. Fellow bloggers will not only link to your awesome content but they will also help promote it in their channels. The end product of backlinks is traffic . When you get visitors to your site you have to respect them and their needs. You can't simply throw stuff at them and expect them to hand over their hard earned income. Put yourself in their shoes and don't think of them as merely a source of income. These are real people with real needs. Give them information they need and help them. Again, the key is to engage with your website visitors and treat them with respect . This will help build relationship with your audience.

Google Authorship: How to Get Your Picture Next to Search Results
AuthorRank doesn't exist yet, but there has been a lot of buzz about AuthorRank. The concept is the same as PageRank, in which a webpage is assigned a numerical value for its authority and relevance to users of the Internet. For example the Wall Street Journal has a high page rank compared to my local newspaper the Vancouver Sun, because the Wall Street Journal is seen to have more authority than the Vancouver Sun. It's believed that Google AuthorRank will play a role in the future, in the sense that authors that are tied to specific content and have established authority through writing for different sites with high page ranks, or have a lot of social activity, will be a factor in ranking higher for search results. At the time of the writing of this blog post AuthorRank hasn't been implemented, but this shouldn't hinder anybody from signing up for using Google Authorship.
Can Pinterest Work For Local Businesses?
Even though links from pins to your site are no-follow (meaning they probably don't pass any link juice), more of your links out there means more click-throughs to your site and isn't THAT the purpose of SEO It also means that we all need to remember to use descriptive keywords (which for us will mean including our location) in our
10 Reasons You're Missing the Boat on Pinterest
This mistake is by no means unique to Pinterest. In fact, sharing only brand-specific content is a very common rookie move on every platform. Pinterest IS a great way to drive traffic to your site, so by all means, share your own content with links back to website pages and blog posts. But, inherent in every social network is the need to BE social and useful. Share relevant content that is of value or interest to your following. Unless you're selling home decor, recipes or other uber-popular Pinterest bait, you are going to need to be creative. We did some Pinterest work for a battery retailer, and board titles included, Recharge Your Batteries (relaxation), Must-Have Christmas Toys (seasonal, coordinated with blogging), and other relevant, but creative boards. The idea was to attract attention with popular categories and keywords and create brand awareness in a subtle way.
Pinterest for Veterinarians - A Natural Fit!
When you fill out your profile fully, you can include a link to your website, and that may send some to your site, but the real sustainable and scalable traffic generation comes from sharing your own website content on Pinterest. When you are regularly blogging, you have all kinds of great material to share. Make sure you include a compelling (cute, funny, beautiful) image on every post. Including a headline right in the visual of your image (like I've done in this article), encourages people to pin your image (which links back to the article) and increases the chance that people will click on the link to your site when they see the image on Pinterest.
Three Reasons You're Not Getting Leads from your Website & Simple Remedies
Are there very clearly marked calls to action applicable to every page and blog post on your site For example, your About Us page should include a link to your How to find a groomer you can trust ebook. A blog post about types of doggie shampoos could link to either How to bathe a dog that hates water OR When you should hire a professional dog groomer . Include text links and images (buttons). If you need some examples, just look in the sidebar of this site, and throughout pages and blog posts. Create a resources page that includes all your downloadable content.
8 Ways To Boost Your Brand on Social Media
A lot of businesses and social media users only update their social wall and expect followers to build up automatically. This usually does not lead to the expected results. Every social network has some tools that provide the user with many opportunities for promoting their page and presence. For example, more than one billion Facebook users belong to at least one group. Becoming active in a Facebook group and posting links to your Facebook page can grow your page likes rapidly. Finally, after all of the effort you put into growing your social media presence, you should be monitoring and improve your campaigns continuously. Most social networks have implemented some kind of monitoring features into their business offerings. On Facebook pages, for examples, you can see how many people your posts have reached. You can also see how many shares and comments each post receives.
9 Advanced and Actionable SEO Tips for Your eCommerce Store
Often SEO is totally focused on getting rankings. But that's only half the job, you need to entice people to click on your links. Firstly there is nothing more boring than simply a product listing as your title tag on the page. Add in more descriptive title tags that are relevant to your competitive advantage.
